In 1994 there was a fun prize that would be added to the $1 million in cash. The winner would win their weight in silver to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the WSOP. The winner would not be a small man, as Russ Hamilton definitely had some weight to earn the silver.
In the final hand Russ moved all-in with his K-8 when the flop hit 8-6-2. His opponent, Hugh Vincent, made the call and showed his 8-5. Russ Hamilton held the advantage and after a ten fell on the turn and a jack fell on the river he became the champion of the 1994 WSOP Main Event.
Since his victory Russ has gone on to do well playing many different casino games and is considered to be one of the world’s most valuable experts in the casino industry.
