The title of ‘best poker country in the Americas’ is now up for grabs during PokerStars’ 2010 Americas Cup of Poker.
For the next month, players all over the Americas will be able to play in freerolls and small buy-in tournaments to represent their country. Although these tournaments online, players will have the chance in a lifetime to play for their country at the ACOP finale taking place in Iguazu Falls. The top 8 participating countries will be taken to the live final tables.
Starting March 15th through April 14th, players from all of the represented countries will be playing in three tiers of matches. freeroll, $0.11, and $1.10. The countries that will be allowed to take place in this competition are: USA, MEXICO, CANADA, COLOMBIA, VENEZUELA, PERU, CHILE, ARGENTINA and BRAZIL. Not to worry Latin American players, a final team will be assembled as “REST OF LATAM.”
While playing in these tournaments, the top 100 players will be rewarded points for their team. The country(team) with the most points after that tournament will win that match. (The points table is listed on the PokerStars website for reference). Although you are playing for your country, you will be also representing yourself. Play well enough and accumulate the most points, you and three others will be going to Iguazu Falls to play live among the top poker professionals.
After all of the tournaments are played out, the top six countries will receive automatic bids to the live final, leaving the final four teams to compete in a final tournament which will take two teams.

When arriving to your live final, you and the three other online qualifiers will be combined into a team including a Team PokerStars Pro. This pro will be your team captain and assist you in taking down the cup. A prize pool of $150,000 will be up for grabs for the final 8 countries.
