Joe Bartholdi
Joe Bartholdi was born in southern California in 1980. He got into trouble in his early years, selling cigarettes at school well before the legal age. Joe Bartholdi was later expelled from school for fighting, and because the nearest school was several miles away, Joe decided to get his GED instead. He moved to Las Vegas with his father, a poker dealer, when he was 18. He started playing poker then, despite being underage. He turned professional when he turned 21, and concentrated his game in Texas Holdem and Seven Card Stud.
Joe Bartholdi wasn’t cut out for a professional life just then, as he wasn’t very good at managing his bankroll. He also lost quite a bit of his winnings playing blackjack. Consequently, he took a job as a poker dealer in order to have some stable income.
Joe Bartholdi met Dutch Boyd in 2002 and became a member of a poker playing group known as “The Crew.” However, he left The Crew after he lost $4,000 when he was tilting off his bankroll at online poker rooms, feeling that he had failed the group.
Joe Bartholdi then built up his bankroll from $50 to $250,000, but managed to lose it all again thanks to his lack of bankroll management skills. His big break came in 2006, when he won the World Poker Tour Season 4 $25,000 No Limit Holdem Championship event and a first prize of nearly $3,760,165.
Joe Bartholdi is a very talented young player. If he manages to put his past issues behind him he could become great. He currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada.
