Jay Heimowitz
Jay Heimowitz was born on December 26, 1937 in Bethel, New York, and despite his poker success still maintains an amateur status. He started playing poker games for baseball cards when he was nine years old, the start of a brilliant life playing poker. He joined the army and when he left the army at the age of 21, he had won $10,000 from playing poker with his army buddies. He invested his winnings into a beer company, and two years later became the youngest Budweiser distributor at the age of 23.
Jay Heimowitz has played in the World Series of Poker since 1975 and has won six WSOP bracelets, winning them in 1975, 1986, 1991, 1994, 2000, and 2001. He has also played in every WSOP Main Event since 1977 and has finished in the money seven times, including a 3rd place finish in 1980. Jay Heimowitz has had 8 first place finishes and has more than $1.6 million playing poker. Very few people have been able to match his accomplishments at the World Series of Poker.
Jay Heimowitz has made the money one time on the World Poker Tour, but has not made a final table. He likes to keep fit, eats healthy and enjoys skiing and fishing. His favorite movie is Gone with the Wind and his favorite musicians are Celine Dion and Nana Mouskouri.
Jay Heimowitz was married in 1960 to his wife Carole and they have four sons and four grandchildren. Two of Jay Heimowitz’s four sons play poker. Jay Heimowitz still lives in the place he was born, Bethel, New York.
