Patrik Antonius
Patrik Antonius is a professional poker player from Helsinki, Finland who was born on December 13, 1980 and was mentored by fellow professional poker player Marcel Lüske. Patrik Antonius was a tennis player with professional aspirations, but his tennis career was ended by a back injury. He then went to work as a model, but he found the job boring. He eventually got into poker, using his modeling income as his bankroll. Patrik Antonius began improving his poker game, and became a winning player. Patrik was signed as part of team Full Tilt Poker in June, 2008.
Patrik Antonius plays poker online and travels to poker tournaments across the world, always looking for the biggest games. Patrik Antonius had a big year in 2005, starting off by narrowly missing the final table of two World Poker Tour events. He had three money finishes at the World Series of Poker, and finished 3rd at a European Poker Tour event in Barcelona. In October of 2005, Patrik Antonius won the EPT Baden Classic. He finished off the year by making his first WPT final table, finishing 2nd at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic. Patrik Antonius has not yet won a WSOP or WPT title.
Patrik Antonius participated in the “Durrrr Challenge,” which was a prop bet created by Tom Dwan, aka Durrrr. The rules of the Durrr Challenge were that if any player would put up $500,000 and could beat Durrrr in an online poker game, they would win $1.5 million from Durrrr. The catch was that the play must happen online, be a game with stakes of no less than $200/$400 NL/PL, and be played over the course of 50,000 hands.
Patrik Antonius now lives in Monte Carlo, Monaco. He plays at The Big Game at the Bellagio and frequently gets poker advice from Jennifer Harman and other players in the game. He also stars in the show “Poker After Dark.” Patrik Antonius is one of the most watched poker players online, and you can find many observers chatting whenever Patrik Antonius is playing.
