Due the low amount of Linux OS users, there are no online poker rooms that have a native Linux poker software download. Fortunately, there is a loophole that Linux users can exploit in order to play online poker.
There are several online poker rooms for Linux. Each has Java and Flash poker clients typically named “Instant Play.” The only requirement to play at these online poker rooms is a regular internet browser, which you obviously already have. Linux users simply open the online poker room in their internet browser and play just as they would if they had downloaded onto a Windows based computer system.
Linux Poker Software
There are sometimes very small differences in the browser based Java online poker room compared to the usual Windows PC poker room. Sometimes the Java client will lack some features such as multi-tabling capabilities or the display of all in percentages. The features that no download poker rooms lack are usually insignificant and will not have a dramatic affect on the Linux poker player.
Linux Texas Hold’em
Texas Holdem is the most popular form of online poker today. In fact, Texas Hold’em is the first game that programmers introduce into the Instant Play software before enabling real money mode. Sometimes, an Linux poker room will not offer any other game except for Linux Hold’em.
