Unfortunately, Harrahs has made it extremely difficult to talk about their popular Las Vegas poker tournament called the World Series of Poker*. According to our attorneys, we are not allowed to mention any of their trademarks, copyrights, or anything relating to their brand without extending to our readers an asterisk leading to information that the WSOP* is not directly associated with our website.
Anyways, I don't really care too much about their stupid policies because all that I want to write about is how you can qualify for the WSOP through online WSOP satellite tournaments and qualifiers, so sue me. Basically, it boils down to a few things.
WSOP Satellite Tournaments
If you're in the US, you probably know of the legal problems surrounding online poker. These issues sprouted from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (aka UIEGA). To participate in an online WSOP qualifier as a US poker player, you can only play at the following online poker rooms:
Ya, it's pretty sad isn't it? Of course, if you're not from the US, there are plenty more options for you to qualifiy for the WSOP online through a WSOP satellite. Non-US poker players can play at the above rooms or the following Mac poker rooms:
The Official WSOP Guidelines
YOU MAY NOT:
Use either the WSOP’s* poker chip logo or stacked logo, or any image of a WSOP bracelet in any of your advertising or in any communications to your players.
You may not use the words World Series of Poker* or the WSOP* acronym in the official names or headlines of any contests or promotions you are running on your site, or in the titles of any websites, pages, press releases, advertisements, or articles.
The words ‘World Series of Poker*’ and the ‘WSOP*’ acronym may not be used more than TWO TIMES EACH PAGE in any written material, whether online or off-line, provided that use is part of a textual sentence.
All usage of the words World Series of Poker* or WSOP* must be marked with an ASTERISK (*), and the following disclaimer must appear on every page where these terms are used, in a location and type size that is reasonably likely to be seen and read by consumers:
